Carroll County has been awarded a $500,000 grant to determine if at least two locations require environmental cleanup, Gov. Andy Beshear’s office announced last week.
The funds, awarded through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will be used to determine what actions, if any, are required to remediate the former Carrollton Furniture Factory, a 5-acre property located in the city’s historic district, along with a 58-acre site on Highway 227 with what the governor’s office described as having “multiple violations for unauthorized dumping.”
